College of Informatics

Introduction

The College of Informatics, established in August 2007, contains the Department of Management Information System, the Department of Information Technology, and the Department of Multimedia Design. The Department of Management of Information System focuses on the fields of software design, information system management, server building, network establishment and management, and artificial intelligence. The Department of Information Technology focuses on the domains of software design, server building and network establishment, embedded system design, and the Internet of Things.    The Department of Multimedia Design pays attention to the areas of video making, multimedia design for marketing, and artificial reality-virtual reality.

 

Education Goals

The College of Informatics is committed to professional knowledge teaching, industry-academia exchanges, and practical application with an aim to enhance students’ employability. All three departments in the College of Informatics provide qualified teaching staff, equipment and resources, as well as a learning environment that can develop students’ professional knowledge. We also established a Teaching Internship Collaboration Platform that closely links industry with the university to fulfill learning by practice, which also improves students’ problem solving capabilities and develops their abilities, needed to build their future careers.

 

Interdisciplinary Programs

To encourage students’ diverse learning and respond to the demand for integrated talents required for social innovation, the College of Informatics also offers four interdisciplinary programs, including the finance and information interdisciplinary program, the digital marketing interdisciplinary program, the virtual reality interdisciplinary program, and the AI banking and e-commerce interdisciplinary program, all facilitating a greater choice of possible future careers for our students.

 

Department of Management Information System

A. Introduction:

In response to the demand of information talents in the employment market,the Department aims to develop information management talents with both information technology specialty and management competence. The curriculum design follows a three-in-one teaching model of “theory teaching, practical training, and on-site corporate internship”. The content of courses focuses on “e-business, network planning and management, and information system development”. Through continuously establishing and strengthening infrastructure of software and hardware, we ensure our students a successful learning in a complete and effective teaching environment while fulfilling our concept of providing quality. The teachers devote to the teaching and often lead students to participate in national information project contents. Students achieved excellent performance and won a lot of awards. We welcome you to join us and become our new force. Let’s create great performance together.

 

B. Characteristic:

In tune with the era of AI and interdisciplinarity, in recent years the MIS Department have begun offering “AI Interdisciplinary Special Achievement Program” as well as established featured labs to provide students with special achievement the opportunities of hands-on experiment in the environment that is close to the industrial practice. Students can fully develop their potentials and accumulated competitive advantages that link them to internship and employment.

 

C. Future career:

The Department of Management Information System cultivates information management talents of a new generation that are equipped with both information technology specialty and management competence. Demands on various information talents are especially high due to the digital transformation after the epidemic, which in turn created wider employment opportunities for students.

Future development includes programmers, system analysts, network management engineers, project managers, project assistants, software test engineers, network security analysts, and database administers.

Department of Information Technology

A. Introduction:

Our Department aims to develop “middle management talents who are with information software and hardware system development competence and workplace ethics”. Our objective is to cultivate professional and practical talents for information technology, cloud and AI intelligent application, financial technology, and Internet of Things. Our compulsory courses emphasize on the discussion of theories and practices while elective courses focus on the combination of information industry and practical application. In addition, we actively invite industrial experts to carry out co-teaching, offer workplace experience, and implement industry-academia collaboration teaching. We also emphasize on the implementation of “system integration related to information industrial project” to turn our department into an environment suitable for developing and training for future smart system in the country. At the same time, we aim to develop the students in our department into the core technical talents in the industries related to information.

 

B. Characteristic:

  1. Professional computer classroom A310, A412 and A508:

Provides software and hardware development equipment for computer equipment, teaching broadcasting system, Android system development environment, JAVA development environment, Microsoft Visual Studio development environment (ASP.NET, C#), Arduino development environment, and Raspberry integrated environment.

  1. Topic lab:

(1) A308: It provides computer and printer for students to use for their after-class practice, discussion, and project production.

(2) A301-2: It provides embedded system project production, quadcopter drone, and Internet of Things for students’ after-class practice.

  1. Project seminar classroom C304:

Multi-function professional classrooms for junior/senior students to carry out project production training or discussion, small lecture, meeting, internship orientation training, and employment program implementation.

 

C. Future career:

Students can take on positions related to software development, software and hardware design, as well as integrated testing development.

Department of Multimedia Design

A. Introduction:

Our department started to prepare the recruitment of four-year technical program at the Division of Continuing Education in the academic year 2007 and recruited one class of four-year technical program at the Division of Continuing Education in the academic year 2008. In the academic year 2012, we adjusted the recruitment of day school to two classes. In the academic year 2013, we had six classes of day school four-year technical program and 4 classes in the Division of Continuing Education. Due to the reduction of student source in the academic year 2020, we had reported that the recruitment for the Division of Continuing Education in the academic year 2021 has been suspended. At the same time, we established special achievement program (interactive entertainment design) at the Division of Day School. It started recruitment in the academic year 2021, and it is estimated to have nine classes in Day School and three classes in the Division of Continuing Education by the academic year 2022.

 

B. Characteristic:

Aside from actively exchanging and interacting with domestic and oversea academic and design professional institutions, the Department of Multimedia Design encourages students to participate in design competition to development their design acumen. The Department has facilities such as 306 Future Classroom, A505 Virtual Film Studio, A509 Professional Recording Room, A510 and A511 Computer Drawing Classroom, as well as A408 Advanced Computer Drawing Classroom for our students. In addition, we provide studio A301-1 and A513 for students to implement self-study and graduation project. Each classroom has Adobe all-series software. Moreover, we encourage industry-academia collaboration programs and maintain good interaction with professionals in the areas of interaction, film and television, animation, and design.

 

C. Future career:

Advanced study: Students can study at domestic or oversea graduate schools in the areas related to design, information communication, visual communication, applied media, and arts. Most of our students choose to study at graduate schools offering graphic communication, visual communication, interactive design, toys and games, radio and television, and multimedia animation.

Employment: Our graduates can work for advertisement design, multimedia design, 2D/3D animation, dynamic webpage design, game planning, media marketing. They can work as original creators of novel, comics, and illustration, 3D animators, material and lighting designers, riggers, movement designers, editors, sounds specialists, background music specialists, or visual effects specialists.
