The Goals & Vision of Academic Affairs Office

1. Introduction:
During school years 1997-1998, Academic Affairs office consolidated two divisions (subordinate units), namely Curriculum Division and Registration Division to form a new Division of Academic Administration, which is mainly in charge of student enrollment, grades, graduation, examination, course selection, counseling service, teaching affairs management and so on.

The new setup of General Academic Affairs Division provide services including joint admission exercises, individual enrollment, participation in the College & Careers Expo for senior high schools and vocational high schools, reception of high school students for campus visits, creating admission-related advertising & promotional materials, high school alliance programs, school magazines and so on.

In addition, owing to the requirement for participating with Northern Taiwan Teaching & Learning Resource Center, Academic Affairs Office setup a new a teaching resource center which is responsible for including inter-institutional collaboration in the teaching, carrying out teaching quality control, improving teaching quality, implementing project proposals launched by the Minister of Education and other relevant services. The advisory committee member is to assist the Dean of the Academic Affairs Office in operation planning.

Currently, there are fourteen staffs in the Academic Affairs Office including the Dean of Academic Affairs Office, one advisory committee member, one administration team leader with his six crew members, one comprehensive service team leader with his two members and one teaching resource center director with his one crew member.

2. Operational Goals:
The Academic Affairs Office upholds the principle of spirit in strict management and commits to the implementation of educational administration. Below shows its six primary objectives:
1) Education system integration & division planning
2) Review, consolidation and revision regulations of academic affairs
3) Promotion, guidance and implementation of professional licenses in university
4) Promotion and implementation of teaching evaluation and teaching inspection system
5) Monitoring planning and implementation of school admissions
6) Promotion and resource providing in relevant activities such as teaching, research, service and counseling

3. Features of Academic Affairs Office are as follows:
1) Promote automated operations, strengthen decision making capacities of colleagues and improve the quality of work outputs
2) Enhance the guidance and relevant information to help students overcome difficulties in maladaptive learning
3) Implement the teaching evaluation system and exception management system in order to increase teaching efficiency
4) Improve the teaching environment and promote computer aided teaching network in order to boost the competitiveness of the whole university
5) Proposal for standardized curriculum planning and implementation of mechanism for teaching inspection system to improve competiveness of the university and students

4. Goals of mid-term and long-term development plans:
1) Promote full implementation of standardized curriculum
2) Promote various types of teaching programs
3) Promote teaching quality improvement programs
4) Gradually promote digital learning courses, computer aided teaching and asynchronous distance learning
5) Promote graduate institute admission recruitment and diversified admission program
6) Regular review of adjustable strategies on departments, faculties and classes
7) Promote professional licenses and review its effectiveness
8) Draw up strategies of school admission

5. Vision:
The guideline of Academic Affairs Office is “to assure the smooth operation of logistic arrangement system and to facilitate academic matters”. As the best advocate, we engage in promoting administrative efficiency and optimization of teaching and administrative quality.
