Department of Information Management

Introduction

Due to the development of information technology (IT), the job market has strong demand for IT personnel. The school established the Data Processing Section in 1989 to train students with IT profession and managerial skills. In 1994, the Data Processing Section was renamed Information Management Section. In 2002, our school was restructured as a college and the Data Management Section became the Department of Management Information System. In 2007, our school was upgraded to a university, named “Takming University of Science and Technology”. In 2010, our school established the Graduate Institute of Information Technology and Management. Due the more detailed job division in the IT industry, in 2003 the school established a related department, the Department of Information Technology, and in 2004 established the Department of Multimedia Design.

Taking advices from within and outside the industry, we continuously adjust our curriculum based on the needs of our social evolvement and related industries. In order to cultivate talents who will soon join the work force, we designed a 3-in-1 teaching model including theory teaching, project implementation and practical training. Our curriculum relates to topics such as multimedia (image processing, computer animation), information system and technology (programming, data base system, business resources planning, security application of information, etc) and management (accounting, management, human resources, data exploration and business wisdom, etc). We also offer 3 professional programs, including “Business Digitalization”, “Internet Planning and Management” and “Development of Information System”. In order to enhance students’ competitiveness, we help and encourage our students to participate in national IT design competition, and obtain certain international professional licenses and professional licenses issued by Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Recently, more and more companies are established in the Neihui Technological Park, increasing co-operation opportunities with corporations. Our graduates receive high feedback in terms of working attitude, personality, professional skills and team working skills from the industry.

Our master program aims to cultivate IT and managerial professional. The research area includes information technology, quantitative calculation operation and information security. Our graduate institute adopts the module concept and divides the courses into the module of information technology application, corporate system and quantitative calculation operation. Our objectives are to design the courses according to the government development plans and the development of new technology, to develop high-level research personnel and to increase international competitiveness of our industry.
